Emperor Asoka is known as Piyadasi (in Pali) or Priyadarshi (in Sanskrit) meaning “He who regards everyone with affection". All his inscriptions have the imperial touch and show compassionate loving. He addressed his people as his "children".

Project Location

FHSM’s geographical area comprises of tribal & hilly areas (Western ghats – Kolli Hills), remote villages, coastal areas (East Coast – Vedaranyam & Nagor of Nagapattinam District, and Kanyakumari District), drought prone areas (Namakkal, Tiruvannamalai, Ariyalur, Perambalur & Dharmapuri), semi-urban areas, and urban areas. The major economic activity in the projects areas are agriculture, tannery, forest produce, livestock, fisheries, poultry, and other agro-based activities.
